It was most likely the last bike ride for this year with the last weather in the 50’s or so they predicted. Dave I and myself rounded Skaneateles Lake and rode thru New Hope Mills. I remember 15 years ago buying local organic flour with the name New Hope Mills at the local store. It’s closed now but left an impressive two buildings, this being the one just below the bridge. The big mill is further downstream. There was a gate so I didn’t venture in the get closer to that one. My guess is this was a sawmill. The round pipes carried the water to a wheel inside that drove the machinery. Fascinating how ingenious humans can be. I hope this mill gets registered as an historic site and we can get to see how the grains were prepared. This is 8″ x 8″ using pen, pencil and watercolor and gouache on cotton paper. $ 65 unframed
