I had to take family to JFK again a week ago and as I returned along some back roads this is a site i just love. I drove over the bridge too. Happens that I was involved in wooden bridge building while living in Ecuador so these old structures really speak to me. We didn’t do covered bridges there but the feeling of connecting or reconnecting some remote community to the rest of the road grid was wonderfully satisfying.
Here’s where my thoughts are today, even as I feel deep gratitude for the beauty around us all.
“Whether peace is to be reached only after unimaginable horrors precipitated by humanity’s stubborn clinging to old patterns of behavior, or is to be embraced now by an act of consultative will, is the choice before all who inhabit the earth. At this critical juncture when the intractable problems confronting nations have been fused into one common concern for the whole world, failure to stem the tide of conflict and disorder would be unconscionably irresponsible.”[5]
This one is big and took a few days to complete. 14″ x 20″ using pencil, watercolor and gouache on cotton paper. $ 125 unframed. And finally I ask you, should you desire, to send me a photo of some vista that’s dear to you and for the next 18 days I’ll be trying to paint all entries. Then as it’s posted you must tell us all the story behind your choice. Thanks
This is great, Tommy! Though I had to enlarge to finally find the bridge.
Love the quotes, so appropriate! I guess we should all read the peace statement again.
