Sentinel Goose

Here’s another from that preserve. He just watched us as his mate was busy in a nest nearby. She was well hidden until she would stretch her neck to gather more grasses for the nest. The preserve has a board walk that’ll bring humans quite close to these birds and maybe they’ve grown used to us over the years, at least this couple. It’s 7″ x 10″ using pencil, watercolor and gouache on cotton paper. $65 unframed.

  1. Very well done, Tommy! Brings back memories. One of the things I miss about the Minneapolis area, where we lived in St. Louis Park, there was a pond in the back of our building. The mallards and the geese came back every March and stayed until Winter began. I loved walking around that pond and taking photos. Had a great view from our outside deck as well (second floor).
