There is now a walking path all around the mansion of Bahji and the Shrine of Baha’u’llah. It’s new to me since the last time I visited here was 12 years ago for my first pilgrimage. This area is yet to made into beautiful gardens but my guess is that is the plan for the future. 3/4’s of the path passes through beautifully manicured areas. Many of the eucalyptus trees were planted by enemies of Baha’u’llah in the hopes that they would use up the water in the ground and keep the area from being beautified. Now they are huge and add their majesty to the overall design. They plotted and God plotted and God is the best of plotters. That’s a rough translation from a line in the Koran. It’s 9″ x 12″ using pen, pencil, gouache and watercolor on cotton paper. I liked walking the path and praying before entering the actual shrine. It gets one in a certain mood of reverence.
