Here’s the machinery used to keep the weeds from choking out the many varieties of small trees growing on the hillsides near Spencer, NY. Akiva Silver is growing trees and selling them now for quite a few years. He’s dedicated to helping bring back the chestnut tree and has many growing in the fields above the house. They’re maybe 10 years old and producing nuts which he in turn harvests and sells to spread the new hybrid chestnut trees across the country, just like they used to do. There’s lots of berry bushes and fruit trees for sale too, almost any plant that produces food it seems can be found here.
