Sunday, a very sunny day, I walked into Texas Valley on the FLT. To return to the car we did a loop thru this farms field and up the unplowed Dean Rd and then to Newtown Rd. The snow was very deep but snowshoes made it all possible. The spruce trees were a deer hotel…we could see where they had been sleeping under the heavy cover provided by the trees. One set of tracks shown appears to be a galloping rabbit’s, the others are from deer. And they and the little birds all survive these heavy winters. We survived our rigorous hike. It’s humbling. It’s 9″ x 12″ using pencil, watercolor and gouache on cotton paper.
