I walked early morning today, Saturday, down to the lake and out onto the ice. This is a view found only in deep winter or I guess if you’re in a boat in the middle of the inlet waters. So I had to try to document it. Walking on the ice was easier than walking in the snow. There was only an inch or so of snow on the frozen surface whereas there’s over a foot of it on solid ground. I found tracks of ice skaters, walkers and even a cyclist who had ventured out on the ice closer to town. Limited palette, unlimited space. This is 9″ x 12″ using pencil and watercolor on cotton paper. $80 unframed
