Roadside Attraction #147

This is some of the wonders of living in the Fingerlakes region. Migrant workers were very busy packing sweet corn into crates and then loading it onto the truck. Some are putting the crates together while other quickly pack them. This was on Mahaney Rd. my alternate route for the Aids Ride. Little to no traffic on the East side of Cayuga Lake and lots of farms is why I choose to leave the bigger group. I still make the pit stops though. It was just beginning to rain at this point of time and did so for the rest of the morning’s ride…lightly, keeping us cool. This is 20″ x 14″ using pencil and watercolor on Waterford cotton paper. It will be framed and then $225 to take it home.

  1. Really interesting subject, Tommy. I’ve never seen this crop harvested on an industrial -scale before, including the workers. Important to document this. The blue part in bottom right corner is hard to understand – looks like a water fall. That’s a small detail because I love the painting. Thank you for being there and for capturing this moment. love, Sara
