Visiting Maggie’s old friends in New Paltz, I was taken to a bridge over this creek because Jim thought I would like the view. And so it proved. This water will make its way to the Hudson River and then the Atlantic Ocean. There’s a tower on the distant mountains that is part of the Mohonk estate. Abdul Baha, who was the head of the Baha’i Faith at that time, was invited to give a talk there on international peace back in 1912 and he came from the Holy Land to do just that. He then stayed for some 238 days in the US crossing the country and giving 100’s of speeches to all kinds of organizations…churches, Esperanto groups, Hull house in Chicago, mosques and synagogs, workers unions, peace societies and one in the Bowery mission. This is 20″ x 14″ using pencil, pen and watercolor on Arches paper. It too will be framed and available next Saturday at the Southside Community center’s fundraiser. I do hope those in the near vicinity will come by and check out the latest works by myself and other craftspeople.
