West of Cincinnati in Delhi I stumbled on this huge sycamore tree. It must have had a diameter of 5′ to 6′ and was incredibly tall. I had just ordered a turnover at a little bakery and the salesperson stuffed 2 extra donuts in there with it. A treat, that. I spent the night before on Tim’s land where the house he grew up in used to stand. He had told me brusquely yes, you can stay here, showed me where to camp and left but not before warning me about coyotes in the area. 1/2 hour later he returned with 3 bottles of water and wished me kindly a good night’s rest and don’t worry about anything. “I live up on the hill there so should anyone stop and question your being here tell them I gave you permission to stay”. It’s 5.9″ x 11.8″ using pencil, watercolor and gouache on cotton paper.
