Finger Lakes Trail # 10, on the Cameron Loop

This week was a good one for walking in the woods for me. I missed them so much after a month of city living. My friend Jay and I went in on Thursday and although it was a typical grey day here still one finds beauty abounding. Check out this white pine. The highest part snaps off and it sends up a new leader. This one sent up four many years ago and looks like they’re still battling it out to see who’s gonna be the tallest. Must have broken off when it was very young.  The other 2 days out here were trail maintenance trips. Friday we chopped out 2 bigger trees that had fallen across our section of the FLT.  And on Sunday I walked again with 2 other friends on a different section of the Finger Lakes Trail.                                                               It’s 9″ x 12″ using pencil, watercolor and gouache on cotton paper.
